The singer has only recently started her ‘Bangerz’ tour and was performing in Los Angeles when she decided to show some love for the ‘Dark Horse’ singer.

21-year-old Miley was singing ‘Adore You’ when she decided to lean in for a kiss with Miss Perry.

The moment was captured by in a fan’s Instagram video and word quickly spread across the internet.

Miley made a reference to Katy’s 2008 hit single ‘I Kissed A Girl’ when she declared to fans after the smooch: ‘I just kissed a girl and I really liked it a lot.’

29-year-old Katy also shared the candid moment with fans, posting a snap of her and Miley after their encounter via her Twitter account with the caption: ‘And after! I adore you @MileyCyrus.’

Miley’s raunchy stage show has already sparked controversy, with some parents calling for it to be banned.

Miley defended herself on Twitter with a shot of a ‘parental advisory label’ with the caption: ‘You can't say I didn't warn you. Now sit back relax & enjoy the show. #bangerztour.’

She then defiantly tweeted: ‘Save your complaints for the McDonalds drive thru when they forget the 'fries with that.’
