Mike Thalassitis’ friends and family pay tribute to star with vigil

Mike Thalasstis' closest friends and family have paid tribute to the former Love Island star after his tragic death.

His loved ones held a vigil on Friday in the woodland where he was found dead last weekend, releasing lanterns to celebrate Mike's life.

A friend of Mike's shared a video of the vigil on Twitter, showing childhood photographs, candles and flowers dedicated to him decorating a tree in the park near Edmonton, London.

They also had legions of balloons to release into the sky to commemorate Mike, while heartfelt letters had also been left for him.

The reality TV personality was tragically found hanged in a park near Edmonton, London last weekend following a battle with depression.

It came after the death of his beloved nan and amid reports he had accrued large debts, which had caused him enormous stress.

The star was set to open his own restaurant imminently with business partner Scott Neilson called The Skillet in Loughton, but fans are now calling for it to be renamed to honour his memory.

Comments appeared on the restaurant's new Instagram making the suggestions, with one fan writing, “Only an idea but maybe The Skillet should be called Mike Thalassitis or Micheal Thalassitis?"

Another then added, "Yes I agree it should named after mike!!"
