Mick Jagger might have hit retirement age almost a decade ago but he is definitely not slowing down – he’s just become a new dad.
The 73-year-old Rolling Stones legend welcomed his eighth child on Thursday – with the new son being his first with ballerina ex-lover Melanie Hamrick, 29.
Mick reportedly jumped on a private jet when he found out his former lover had gone into labour, dashing across the Atlantic to be at her side as she gave birth.
"Mick knew the baby was imminent but did not believe his services would be needed so quickly," a source told The Sun.
"As soon as he found out, he caught the first plane he could to JFK airport. There was no way he was going to miss it," they continued.
"It was all very hectic but thankfully he made it just in time. His relief was nearly as huge as the pride he felt when he welcomed his new son into the world," the source added.
Mick and Melanie’s son was born in New York where Mel lives – with Mick jetting the 3,500 miles from London in time to be there as his latest bundle of joy entered the world.
The couple – although no longer together – are said to be thrilled at the news.
"Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger's son was born today in New York and they are both delighted," a spokesperson for the rock star has said.
"Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time," the spokesperson added.
Melanie and Mick had a brief relationship following the shock death of the (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction singer’s lover of 13 years, L’Wren Scott, who committed suicide in 2014.
It is believed Mick intends to be as involved in the life of his new son as much as he can, with a source telling The Sun recently: "They want to raise their son together and obviously will always have such a great bond."
Reports have also revealed Mick bought Melanie a £5 million New York City townhouse for her and their son to live in, and will provide her with £118,000 per year allowance.
"Melanie knows she can always count on Mick for support even though he lives on a different continent," the source added to The Sun.
Mick already has seven other children – with his oldest daughter is Karis Hunt, aged 45, from his relationship with singer Marsha Hunt.
Jade Jagger, 44, is his daughter with actress Bianca Jagger who he was married to between 1971 and 1978.
He has four children from his long-term relationship with Jerry Hall that lasted between 1977 and 1999 – including daughters Elizabeth, 32, Georgia May, 24, and sons James, 30, and Gabriel, 19.
He also has another son – 17-year-old Lucas – from his relationship with Brazilian model Luciana Morad.
On top of all those children, Mick has five grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Just imagine all the Christmas shopping this Rolling Stone must have to do!
