Tina, played by popular actress Michelle Keegan, will meet her untimely end in May after seven years on the soap.

"Michelle will have to go through Tina's death on four occasions, which will be emotional for her"

But, according to soap sources, she’ll have to film her exit scenes, in which she will be murdered by one of the Street residents, four times. Just to make sure her killer's identity remains a secret.

While it was reported last year that Keegan’s exit would be part of a major ‘whodunnit’ plot line, producers have now confirmed viewers will see the murder taking place on-screen and won’t be left with a long, drawn-out guessing game.

Sources said to The Sun: "Bosses are keen for Tina’s murder to be the soap’s next big dramatic storyline following the suicide of Hayley Cropper.

"But they are insistent that who kills her must remain a secret and so they've hatched a plan to film Tina being murdered four times by four different characters. Michelle will have to go through Tina's death on four occasions, which will be emotional for her."

So far, viewers have singled out Peter Barlow, Tina's secret lover, as a possible suspect, as well as his wife Carla.

Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn has teased Michelle's exit from the show as "spectacular". Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "We've got some massive stories coming up that are really different."

"Everybody knows Tina's going; it's going to be an incredible, spectacular exit and it's going to take us right through autumn and December. It's going to be massive."

Michelle, who is engaged to ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright, revealed last month that she was shocked when bosses told her they had decided to kill Tina off, but now she’s come to terms with it.

"It does feel very final, because I can never go back, but I think that is a good thing. It feels like I have been given a clean slate.

"When I told Mark (Wright, her fiance) that Tina was going to be killed off, he said that it was a good thing, and fate — and I think he’s right."
