Their marriage has been under increasing scrutiny recently and, as Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan celebrate their first wedding anniversary this week, insiders say while he is desperately trying to convince his wife that a baby will help bring them closer, she has her doubts and has suggested they spend time away together in a bid to reconnect.

The couple have been plagued by split rumours since they uncharacteristically stopped sharing pictures of each other on social media earlier this month, even when Mark, 29, visited Michelle, 28, in Cape Town where she was filming BBC drama Our Girl.

Rumours of trouble were further fuelled when the stunning actress was pictured partying with her co-stars without her wedding ring.

A source says: “Mark’s been keen for a baby ever since they tied the knot, but Michelle made it clear that she wasn’t ready and wanted to wait, which caused a strain.”
