Mark Wright shocked fans when he revealed he had been rushed to hospital last week following a nasty accident in Las Vegas – and insiders have told Closer the incident has left wife Michelle Keegan panic-stricken.
Mark, 37, shared his battle wounds with fans on Instagram, revealing that he had been left needing stitches after falling over in his hotel room. Debuting the wound, the TOWIE star shared, ‘I’m coming home with a little scar. I fell in the bathroom, I wasn’t drunk. It was in the middle of the night, half asleep. Needed a few stitches, but I’m all good.’
But while Mark got off lightly with a quick hospital dash and 30 stitches, an insider reveals that the incident left wife Michelle, also 37, very worried.
The source says, ‘When Michelle heard about Mark’s fall, she was beside herself. She panicked that it could be really serious, and he was stuck miles away in Vegas. Michelle is so thankful it’s not as bad as it could have been, but she’s told pals that he was inches away from it being so much worse.
‘Mark said he wasn’t drunk when it happened, but Michelle was still heartbroken over it because she realised how bad it really could have been. She wants him to be more careful and has told him she worries that he sometimes behaves like a teenager when he’s away on these trips.’
Mark had been visiting Sin City for 2024’s Formula One Grand Prix – which was packed with A-listers, including racing driver Lewis Hamilton and singer Adele.
While he was once known for being TOWIE’s party boy, Mark – who rose to fame on the show back in 2010 – has lived a quieter life since marrying Fool Me Once star Michelle back in 2015. Revealing that cosy nights in have replaced bar crawls, the star previously shared, ‘Getting married has settled me down. Now, I love sitting at home. When I was young, I was a lad, I’d get drunk three times a week. Now, I’m a lot more thoughtful.’
The loved-up couple live together in their £3.5million Essex mansion, and recently showed off their festive décor. Preparing for Christmas, Mark and Michelle adorned their ‘dream home’ in fairy lights and baubles, with Mark sharing, ‘It’s that time of year again! The best time of year!’
Mark is now back in the UK recovering from his accident, but insiders add that it has come as a stark reminder for the pair of just how valuable – and delicate – life can be.
A source says, ‘This situation has made Michelle realise that life is so precious. Just imagine if Mark had fallen and caused permanent damage, or worse. He’s lucky to have escaped with 30 stitches, but Michelle has pleaded with him to be more careful. She couldn’t bear the thought of losing him, and she wants him to remember that.’
