‘Michelle is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen’

Mark, also 26 said he’d asked Michelle’s father for permission before he asked her to marry him and admitted he had to ask his own father for advice before his big moment.

In the new joint interview, the former TOWIE star said: ‘I rang my dad and said, “What knee do I drop on?”

‘He said, “You can choose but I think it's right”. But left is my favourite side so I said I'm going to drop on my left. I'm superstitious, everything has to be done on the left.

‘It didn't take me long to realise that Michelle is everything I wanted.’

‘Michelle is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen,’ he later added.

The ring is said to have cost £20,000

The couple - who are likely to tie the knot in 2015 - are now looking for somewhere to live together: ‘We've started looking into it now. We've been looking at land, too. We are trying to make the decision whether to build or just move in to a house,’ said Michelle.

Her comments follow reports that the actress will move to Essex when she quits her Machester-based soap role next year.

She also revealed that as a traditionalist, she will be taking Mark’s surname and the pair will tie the knot in a church – before starting a family.

Michelle's ex, Max George, has penned new songs about their breakup

‘I've started looking at dresses in magazines,’ she said, adding: ‘I am quite traditional, so I'll take Mark's surname and we'd like to get married in a church. We definitely want a family, too, but we want to do everything in order. We want to get married first.’

Meanwhile, Michelle’s ex Max George revealed he has written a song about their breakup for his band The Wanted’s new album.

‘I’ve written about my break-up with Michelle. I’ve written a couple of songs about it and the experiences I went through. There’s one song called Heartbreak Story, which is definitely close to me,’ he told a UK newspaper today.
