A year ago, Michelle Heaton opted to undergo a double mastectomy after learning she carries the BRCA2 gene - increasing her chances of having cancer in the future.
And yesterday evening, the pregnant mum-of-one chose to mark that 12 months had passed since the day she'd had both breasts removed. And she did it with an incredibly positive and inspirational Twitter message.
"A year today, I underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery to help prevent breast cancer, given I am BRCA2 positive…"
"I was tough on the outside but was just a frightened girl on the inside. It's been a rough 12 months. Now, expecting our 2nd child..."
"We couldn't be happier. I have a rough road ahead still, but thanks to my birthday boy husband @hughhanley we will get through it."
She ended her message with a simple and heartfelt: "#blessed xxxx"
It's no wonder that Michelle Heaton is such a source of inspiration for so many women, is it?
To celebrate Hugh's birthday, and a year of good health, Michelle and her family bundled up in warm clothes and headed out to Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland.
It's nice to see them enjoying themselves - and, next year, they'll have a little baby boy ready to experience all the festive wonders with them!
