Michelle Heaton opens up about ‘dreaded ovarian removal’: “I’m not even sure if I’m ready to share this yet”

Michelle Heaton has spoken before about her decision to have her ovaries removed, but now she has revealed she is considering having a full hysterectomy.

Former Liberty X singer Michelle, 34, is mum to daughter Faith and son Aaron Jay and she previously stated she would have her ovaries removed following the birth of her second child.

Writing in her blog for a UK magazine, Michelle confirmed she has already had her first hospital appointment and spoken about the hysterectomy.

She said: “It’s such a long story and there are so many pros and cons for both options. I wish I wasn’t faced with the decision of having to go through such a life changing operation.”

Brave Michelle has already gone through the ordeal of having a double mastectomy, after finding out she carries the BRCA2 gene.

The BRCA2 gives carriers an 80 per cent chance of developing breast cancer and a 30 per cent chance of ovarian cancer.

Speaking at the time of finding out she had the gene, and making the tough decision to have the mastectomy, Michelle said: “It’s very strange to be 33 and making this choice, but a lot of women who go through this are in their 20s.

“It’s like making a deal with the devil.”

Michelle and her husband Hugh Hanley are discussing the hysterectomy together, and she added: “It’s a very personal choice, and a tough one at that.”
