The last 24 hours has been the "worst and scariest" time of Michelle Heaton’s life after her new born baby Aaron has been diagnosed with viral meningitis.

The mum-of-two, who has faced a difficult year following her double mastectomy, turned to Twitter for support, revealing how stunned she and husband Hugh Hanley had been at receiving the serious diagnosis.

Michelle posted a series of messages earlier today making her 232,000 followers aware of the news, explaining hat her own illness was nothing compared to what it was like watching her little boy go through such a terrifying illness.

After being flooded with messages of support from Twitter followers, Michelle made sure to thank her fans.

Although viral meningitis is a horrible condition, it is not as dangerous as the highly-contagious bacterial version.

Symptoms of viral meningitis are similar to the flu, with patients often suffering from fever, joint pain, nausea, headaches and a sensitivity to light.

We hope that little Aaron gets better soon - our thoughts are with Michelle and her family.
