Despite releasing an official statement saying that they were separating to “evaluate and work on their marriage”, last night Michael thanked his wife for her "continued support", after winning an award for his role as Liberace in Behind the Candelabra.
Michael, 68, also hinted earlier this month that the separation may just be a blip, saying that his marriage of 13 years to Catherine was fine and that the separation was only temporary.
He said: “I have a crisis at home? No… We, we are fine. My wife and I are, are fine.”
In his acceptance speech Michael also thanked his oldest son Cameron, who is in prison on drugs charges.
He said: “And a shout-out to my oldest son Cameron, but hopefully I’ll be able to see him soon.”
While Michael was picking up his Emmy Award, Catherine, 43, was at a film event in China.
The actress stunned in a red and blue dress by Dennis Basso and she appeared to be wearing her wedding ring. Michael was also wearing his wedding ring at the Emmy’s.
The event was for the opening of the Oriental Movie Metropolis, a film centre and movie themed holiday park in Qingdao.
The launch was also attended by stars including Leonardo Di Caprio, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta and Kate Beckinsale.
