Member of girl band GRL reportedly found dead after committing suicide

Simone Battle, member of chart topping girl band GRL has been found dead after a reported suicide, according to TMZ.

The 25-year-old was found at her home in Los Angeles at around 8am Saturday morning. She reportedly passed away on Friday afternoon.

Simone was a finalist of The X factor US in 2011, and became a member GRL after it was formed by Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin.

Simone’s record company released a statement following her tragic passing.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of GRL. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”

Simone’s father Anthony Battle spoke out in grief, telling journalists: “She will be greatly missed and loved. She was an exuberant person and a very loved person.”

GRL are still on track for their UK no.1 with their hit single ‘Ugly Heart’, though Simone’s bandmates have yet to comment on their loss.
