Melanie Sykes wins court battle, clearing her name of assault

Melanie Sykes, 44, was cautioned by police last November when police were called to the home she shared with estranged toyboy husband Jack Cockings, 27.

She was allegedly held overnight following claims of domestic violence.

The Let's Do Lunch presenter headed to court this week to clear the caution from her records, as she didn’t want to be forever associated with the charges made against her.

Her lawyers have said in a statement: "This has been a testing time for Melanie.

"She believed strongly that it was necessary and appropriate to take legal action - not least for the sake of her children."

The former model has two sons, Roman, 12, and Valentino, 10, from her marriage to Italian actor Daniel Caltagirone.

Mel and Jack met over Twitter in June 2012 and were married just over a year later.

Following the assault claims, however, Mel instigated divorce proceedings.

At the time of their separation roofer Jack wrote on Twitter: "I would rather be alone with dignity than in a relationship that requires me to sacrifice my self respect.

"Sometimes, you end up losing yourself trying to hold on to someone who doesn't care about losing you."

Now Mel says she’s not interested in jumping back into another romance.

She told Fabulous magazine: "I’ve got my kids, girlfriends and a great life.

"I’ll never marry again. But I said that the first time, so…"
