Little Mix - who won the ITV show in 2011 - performed their new single ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ for the first time and have been criticised for their ‘provocative’ outfits.
This isn’t the first time the girl band have been called out for something. Earlier this year an eight-year-old fan told the girls off for swearing in a song.
And now former Spice Girl member Melanie C has revealed that she thinks Little Mix are provocative. The 42-year-old revealed that although she loves Little Mix: “They are getting more provocative. To me, they were kind of the closest thing to the Spice Girls we’ve seen.
“They are all gorgeous and great singers. I love them – but I just say, ‘Stay you’,” she told the Sunday People.
The mother-of-one revealed that when she was in Spice Girls they were criticised for wearing crop tops and has admitted that she now filters what she lets her seven-year-old daughter watch: “She is a massive Little Mix fan but I’ve started to be more sparing in what I show her.
“I don’t let her watch videos by artists that aren’t appropriate for her.”
The girl band were also called out by X Factor viewers because of their outfit choice. For their performance Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson wore leotards, Jade Thirwall wore hot pants and a crop top and Leigh-Anne Pinnock wore an oversized shirt.
After their X Factor performance many people took to Twitter to comment on their girls outfits. One person wrote: “#LittleMix outfit is terrible! Ya’all look like hookers”
Others wrote:
“#LittleMix why do they have to wear half an outfit, looking like porn stars not singers”
“I’m sorry but wtf were Little Mix wearing on the X Factor??!!”
“I love Little Mix but what they’re wearing ain’t appropriate for a family show #xfactor”
“Pleeeease can female pop stars start wearing clothes again? Little Mix are better than dress like 80s hookers #XFactor #ShoutoutToMyEx”
However, many people defended the girl bands outfit. One person wrote: “I thought Little Mix were fab Perry’s outfit was lush. I have seen others wear less.”
Others wrote:
“So much body and outfit shaming on Little Mix tonight I’m beyond mad where is the women empowerment.”
“All this outrage over a performance outfit… If I had a body like any of Little Mix I would dress like that 24/7”
“Why are Little Mix being slated for their outfits? For wearing leotards? Like when will body shaming stop? It’s 2016 #ShoutoutToMyEx”
We agree, we loved Little Mix’s performance.
