Emma Bunton was the only Spice Girl who made it to Geri and Christian’s nuptials, and Mel, 39, insists it’s because the couple didn’t give enough notice.
Speaking to toofab.com, Mel said: “Unfortunately I couldn’t be there at the wedding and neither could Victoria [Beckham] or Mel C because we all had prior commitments.
“Even though [Geri and Christian] have been together quite a while, it was like, ‘Oh I’m getting married in a few weeks’. I was like, ‘No change the date!’ She looked gorgeous on her wedding day and I’ll get to hear all the gossip when I fly over there in a few hours.”
Geri, 42, and 41-year-old Christian tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Woeburn, Bedfordshire last month, and celebs including Emma, 39, Myleene Klass and Jennifer Saunders were in attendance.
While Mel was too busy to attend, she did send Geri her well-wishes via Twitter. She wrote: “Wishing you the most beautiful special day of your life, I love you xxxx [sic].”
Victoria, 41, also sent Geri a message on the social media site, as she was in Singapore for fashion week. Mel C, also 41, was appearing as a judge on Asia’s Got Talent.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed this week that Mel would not be returning as a judge on The X Factor UK, having been replaced by 22-year-old Rita Ora.
