Mel B reveals she is blind in her left eye after laser surgery gone wrong

Mel B has revealed plans to have a ‘life-changing’ cornea transplant, after laser eye surgery left her blind in one eye.

The 39-year-old had the surgery to correct her vision 15 years ago but it went wrong and left her with lasting damage.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, The X Factor judge said: “I can’t see at all out of my left eye. The layering went wrong so this [operation] will be totally life-changing.”

Mel previously claimed she realised she was going blind when she was reading the auto cue at the MOBO awards.

She told The Mirror: “I had laser treatment done to correct [my eyes], but it started to reverse in one eye. It’s scary.

“I’m going blind again. I had a bit of a nightmare. I was reading the auto cue and then suddenly I realised that I couldn’t see properly.”

She may be having surgery to correct her vision but the former Spice Girl insists cosmetic enhancement is not on her to-do list.

“I don’t want to have Botox or surgery because I want to have expression in my face, but I want to look after myself. I’m not an idiot. Looks do count in this business,” she said.

Meanwhile Mel admitted she wants more children with husband Stephen Belafonte. She is already mum to daughters Phoenix Chi, Angel and Madison.

She’s said: “I’m 40 next year, I want to have one more baby.” While Stephen hinted they could adopt, adding: “I think there are so many kids in the world that we could give a chance to.”
