Sources reveal things are 'complicated' with her ex and that this could affect her return to the show

Sources have revealed that Mel B's return to the X Factor could be cancelled, following her legal battle with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.

There were rumours floating around that Mel B would make a return to the show, but, according to The Sun, her situation with Stephen might be too complicated for that to happen.

The issues are said to be surrounding Stephen having access to their children together.

The ex-couple, who split last year, have on daughter together, Madison, and Mel has two children from previous relationships - Phoenix Chi and Angel Iris.

The producer is fighting for access to step-daughter Angel, whose biological father is Eddie Murphy, and a decision is set to be made on the matter in the near future.

The source also said that the 42-year-old mum of three thinks that Stephen will make it 'impossible' for her to work abroad.

But recently, Stephen stated that he has moved on from the relationship and even has a new girlfriend. In an interview with the Sunday People, he said: "My divorce is so 2017. It is 2018 now, I don’t even talk about what happened last year any more.

"Last year for me doesn’t exist. I don’t have anything looming over my head and I wish her all the best – I’ve never been a hater."
