Mel B has confirmed she is making plans for a Spice Girls reunion for their 20th anniversary.

The girl group last performed at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and haven’t toured together since 2008.

However, to celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut single Wannabe, Scary Spice insists there is something in the pipeline.

When asked about rumours of a reunion at the recording of Alan Carr’s New Year’s Specstacular, she joked: “I think I’m the one putting all the rumours out there.

“To be serious,” she continued. “It is our twentieth anniversary this year and it would be rude not to celebrate so hopefully something will happen pretty soon.”

When pressed by funnyman Alan to reveal more details, she shouted: “I can’t tell you what it is yet!”

Just last week it was reported plans by the girls – Mel, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton – had been thrown into doubt as Mel C did not want to work without Victoria.

A source told The Sun: “To fulfil this Mel believes the band has to be the original five-piece and Victoria needs to be involved.”

Posh Spice has previously said she wishes her former bandmates luck but she is content working on her fashion empire and not in music.

The reunion would go ahead in 2016.
