The ex EastEnders' star, 38, is three and a half months pregnant with a boy, and she and 30-year-old musician Jack are over the moon.

After years of longing for a child, Martine admitted that she thought it would never happen for her.

Martine has spoken candidly in the past of her battle with depression and other illnesses and this led her to accept the fact she might never have a child.

She told a British magazine: "We'd always said that if we were fortunate to be blessed with a child, that would be wonderful, but we were very aware that it's not a given.

"As a woman in her late 30s who's experienced health problems, I thought I might have to accept that it wasn't a path my life was going to take, but it would have been a great sadness in our lives if that had been the case."

Martine and Jack's son is due to be born on Valentine's Day next year, and the couple see him as a blessing after her health battles led to her being unable to work, resulting in bankruptcy.

She continued: "It's like the tides have finally turned. Great things are starting to happen on the work front, but more than anything, expecting our baby boy has given us clarity about what matters."
