A source says: "Being away from Mark for so long has really affected Michelle.
"It's made her realise how much she missed him and starting a family together will bring them closer and strengthen their bond."
But their busy careers may still put a halt to their baby plans. Mark is expected to continue his role as correspondent for US show Extra in LA next year, while Michelle will be filming the next series of Our Girl.
"Logistically it's a bit of a nightmare," the pal adds. "But Michelle's told Mark there’s never going to be a right time to do this, and she’s confident she’ll be able to work her filming schedule around the pregnancy."
