The 44-year-old superstar has remained dignified throughout the separation, refusing to comment on the state of her relationship with presenter Nick, 33.

But she seemed to reference it through music while on tour in Perth, Australia last week.

While wowing the crowd with her latest and greatest hits, Mariah performed a rendition of Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer's duet No More Tears (Enough Is Enough).

Mariah – who has three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with Nick – then reportedly said of the line: "When I was a kid, I was thinking 'she's telling it', but now I know it's just a song.

"It's just songs. I mean, really, or is it deeper than that?"

Nick confirmed their relationship was over earlier this year, adding that they were living apart and would continue to do so.

Meanwhile Mariah has hit back at critics of her voice in the fabulous way you would expect her to do so.

After a video leaked of her performing in Japan earlier this year, allegedly showing her struggling to hit the notes in her song Hero, many commenting that she'd lost her famous voice.

But Mariah posted a video to Instagram last month showing that she has no problems reaching her famous whistle note, writing: "Cleaning and warming up my voice #TheElusiveChanteuseShow"
