Maria Fowler has been happily sharing snaps of her unborn baby girl’s clothes and nursery on Instagram.
But, last night, she decided to open up to her fans with a truly poignant and emotional message about her previous suicide attempt… and how she is so grateful to be alive now.
The powerful post read: “Three years ago I was in hospital after trying to take my own life.
“Today we are putting all the nursery furniture up.”
It continued: “You should never be made to feel worthless and never ever feel like life isn’t worth living.
“In the darkness there is always light ahead.”
Fans were moved by her emotional confession, flocking to social media to share their own well-wishes with the young mum-to-be.
One wrote: “So happy for you, you come across as a totally different person today as you were then, it just shows that time really is a great healer and you've hopefully met your soul mate and will be together forever.”
Another added: “Bless you. I wish you and your family all the best.”
“Messages like this really help a lot of people who struggle," added another. “So happy you have found your happy place.”
Maria previously spoke out about her suicide attempt in 2013, telling The Mirror: “I felt so desperate. I didn’t want to die but I didn’t want to live. I felt like a caged animal.
“It was a cry for help – I didn’t have anyone to turn to.”
Thankfully one of her friends called an ambulance and Maria was rushed to hospital, where doctors were able to save her life.
She added: “There’s nothing glamorous about trying to kill yourself. It’s been the worst time of my life.
“Now I want to turn a negative into a positive and make sure it doesn’t happen to other people. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance.”
There’s no denying that motherhood has had a positive effect on Maria.
In fact, her pals say that the star has turned her back on her partying ways after finding love and starting a family with her BMX racer beau, Kelvin Batey.
They told us: “Maria loves going out and has been known to be the last person standing at a party.
"But she hasn’t missed drinking since she found out she was pregnant and is loving her calmer new lifestyle.”
We’re so glad to hear that Maria Fowler has finally found the peace and happiness she was searching for.
