Madonna posted the pic of the 13-year-old with the caption ‘#disn****.’
After followers called out the singer on the derogatory comment, Madonna was quick to respond with an apology.
She said: ‘I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the 'n-word' ‘It was not meant as a racial slur. I am not a racist. There's no way to defend the use of the word.’
The singer swiftly deleted the photo and reposted it with the caption: ‘Ok, let me start this again.’
Madonna was sure to reiterate that she did not mean to cause offence by the slur in a statement released by the Associated Press.
She said: ‘it was all about intention… It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white.’

‘I appreciate that it's a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression.’
Madonna caused controversy at the start of the year when she posted an Instagram photo of Rocco and two friends clutching bottles of alcohol.
The singer addressed the controversy, saying that the picture had been a joke and that people who expressed outrage needed to get a sense of humour.
