The 57 year old, who is currently in a custody battle with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie over their son Rocco, apparently told the crowd in Melbourne: “One thing I’m going to do here tonight that I've never done before when singing is drink.”
Madonna is said to have begun her performance four hours late and then downed several drinks in front of her audience.
Later is was claimed that she told the crowd: “I’m not supposed to be asking for alcohol right now but, Jesus Christ, get me some drink.”
Fans later took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Madonna’s performance.
Yesterday, Rocco spent six hours at the High Court in London as lawyers for both Madonna and Guy discussed his future.
During her performance, a giant image of Rocco, 15, appeared behind Madonna as she performed on stage.
“I probably would have enjoyed myself a bit more on this tour if he hadn’t have disappeared so suddenly. I’m going to dedicate this song to him,” she told the audience.
Despite fans concerns and Madonna’s slightly unsteady performance, the Like A Virgin singer says she was not drunk but did have two dancers deliver her an alcoholic drink on stage.
