Madeleine’s parents recently marked the 7th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance, but have once again had to relive fresh pain as they mark their daughter’s 11th birthday.

The Mirror reports that Gerry, Kate and their twin son and daughter will mark her the day with a birthday cake for Maddie at their home in Leicestershire.

Gerry also revealed that twins Sean and Amelie will lay presents for Maddie in her pink bedroom, which has remained untouched since their sister vanished 7 years ago.

Gerry said: ‘It is really hard. She won’t be here. It’s by far the toughest day of our year, every year. But we still have a birthday cake for her.’

The poignant remembrance comes as detectives prepare to search the Praia De Luz resort where Maddie was last seen.

Detectives from Scotland Yard’s Operation Grange team flew over to gather further evidence surrounding her disappearance.

According to reports, the investigation (which was launched following an enquiry into Portuguese Police’s handling of the case) has received thousands of calls providing information.

A spokesperson for the team gave little away, saying: ‘We will not be providing a running commentary.’
