Amy Willerton has proven popular with viewers of I'm A Celebrity, although she has been involved with several arguments within the jungle camp.

However, despite recently bursting into tears after an altercation with Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter, the beauty queen's family believe that Amy can handled anything the show throws at her.

And that's due to the "inner strength" the model found after suffering a terrifying sexual assault at a 2011 beauty pageant in Korea.

They explained to The Mirror: “It was an awful experience and Amy was really affected by it and actually turned down the jungle last year because she thought she wouldn’t be able to cope."

“But she is confident that she can win now because of what happened. Amy is remarkably wise for such a young woman and really learnt from this incident.

"It’s really prepared her for the jungle and she is a little fighter, she doesn’t take any nonsense. She could definitely win.”

The harrowing experience was detailed in the press at the time, with the Miss Universe Great Britain 2013 revealing the "horrendous" behaviour of the show's organisers:

“It was absolutely horrendous. I had two of the organisers sexually assault me. One tried to pull my top down. When we posed with sponsors they also tried to stick a hand somewhere inappropriate. Girls were pulled aside and told they knew what they had to do to win. We all knew they meant sex.

“When we complained we were told that we would have no chance of winning if we carried on. We called the police but I saw one of the competition chairmen pull out his wallet straight away when they arrived. I was petrified but more than anything I thought I had to get control of the situation and get out of there.”

After being told to sleep on the ground with just a blanket, and given just one meal a day, Amy finally fled Korea.
