Edwina Currie had told the crew of a bus which was ferrying her back to her hotel that she was feeling nauseous and dizzy just minutes into the journey, so they made an emergency stop next to the cane fields of Murwillumbah, New South Wales.
""At the time, we weren't sure how serious it was..."
At this point, the Mail Online have reported, the politician was taken off the coach, which was also carrying most of the celebrity contestants, their family and their friends.
Edwina - who lost seven kilos during her time in the jungle - then started to vomit, before losing consciousness.
An onlooker revealed: "At the time, we weren't sure how serious it was or if she was having her Gillian McKeith moment.
"Later, we discovered it was for real. I hope she's OK."
Her anxious daughter Debbie – who was with Edwina when the scare happened – told MailOnline: "Mum is completely exhausted and knackered.
"They come out of that jungle and it's like a whirlwind for them. They have to be up at the crack of dawn and it wears them out.
"It's exhaustion."
The former politician - who has admitted she found the show "really tough" - missed the show's wrap party and delayed her flight back to the UK.
We wish her a speedy recovery.
