Lucy Spraggan has spoken out about her lowest point after quitting the X Factor in 2012.

Speaking to the Mirror, the 23-year-old admitted that appearing on the talent show affected her creativity, causing her to plunge into a deep depression.

Lucy said: “The worst thing for me was feeling completely uninspired by the whole thing. I didn’t write for about a year.

“I was floored for a bit. I didn’t write anything while I was on the show. I was mentally unwell for a bit.”

At the singer’s lowest point, she even considered taking her own life.

“There was a point where I thought: ‘Where does this go?’ I felt like I wanted to kill myself,” she said.

Thankfully, it was Lucy’s beloved pooch who helped her see the light in the depths of her darkest days.

Lucy explained: “There was one point when I was in my car and I put my foot to the floor, I looked at my dog sat next to me and thought: ‘What are you doing?’”

Since leaving the X Factor, Lucy became embroiled in a bitter Twitter feud with fellow former contestant James Arthur after blasting him for homophobic comments.

After finally finding her mojo again, Lucy started writing music and released an album earlier this year.

To top it off, Lucy even proposed to her girlfriend Georgina Gordon and the couple are hoping to settle down and start a family.

She said: “I feel like I have turned my life around. We are planning to get married in the summer and then have our first baby after that.”
