Her incredible figure is the envy of many, but Lucy Mecklenburgh reveals to Closer that it comes at a painful price
She’s made the leap from reality star to fitness expert in the three years since she left TOWIE, but Lucy Mecklenburgh - who is modelling the new AW16 collection for Boux Avenue - admits that her toned figure doesn’t come without some serious hard work.
While cutting out alcohol and sticking to a very healthy diet, the star also hits the gym five times a week to achieve her Instagram-perfect body. Posting a sweaty mid-session picture, she said: “If you don’t look like this after a workout, you’re not working hard enough.”
But speaking to Closer, Lucy, 24, insists that while she does allow herself the odd treat, she works harder in the gym the next day to make up for it. She says: “I’ll have a glass of wine and a dessert if I’m out for dinner - it’s not the end of the world. I’ll just train harder in the morning. I think it’s all about balance, it’s about living life - you can’t cut everything out, it’s not maintainable and it’s miserable.”
And the size 8 star, who runs her own fitness company, Results With Lucy, says that when she’s not indulging she has to be very careful about what she eats to stay in shape. She says: “Generally from Monday to Friday I’ll just have meat, fish, protein and then veg. I won’t really have dessert in the week, but then at the weekend I’ll be a bit more relaxed. I can’t eat what I want, but equally if I fancy something I will have it if it's the weekend or something, it's miserable to cut out certain foods.”
