Love Island turned Made in Chelsea star Zara Dermott has launched her own fitness Instagram page and revealed the reason behind her 1.5 stone weight loss.

The reality star admitted that when she usually posts about her weight loss on social media she receives lots of messages "attacking me, saying it’s harmful and damaging" however she decided to make a change in her life after it dawned on her that she was eating "ANYTHING and EVERYTHING she wanted".

She went on to say, "[I] rarely exercised. That is not healthy or good for anyone. I never worried about my body, I never thought I was fat, I was content.

"It was never a mental thing and was never affecting my mental health. I was happy with who I was."

The 23 year old explained the moment she decided to make a change, saying, "One day I woke up and I thought, I’m not being healthy. I’m not eating my 5 a day, I’m not monitoring what I’m putting in my body at all."

Zara admitted that following her time on Love Island, receiving free meals and travelling a lot it "took its toll on my body and I ended up weighing 68kg."

After losing 1.5 stone she now weighs between 58/59kg and went on to tell her 32k followers that the hardest part of her body transformation was "moving from the mentality of eating what I wanted my whole life, to starting to monitor it."

During the first few months into her fitness journey she monitored her calories and her personal trainer helped the reality star work out her calorie maintenance level.

She admitted, "After a month of calorie counting (which I must say is a bit monotonous) you can start to understand and learn what amount calories are in certain foods."

At first the Islander "restricted" herself to only eating healthy, high protein foods but now she eats what she wants "but in moderation".

Zara went on to reveal that she prepares her meals before heading out for dinner or ordering a takeaway.

"If I know I’m going out for dinner and want a pizza that night, I’ll fast and drink water until lunch or if I’m up early I’ll have some fruit or a small smoothie, have a super light lunch (maybe scrambled eggs and some spinach for example or some fish) and then have my pizza for dinner and still be within my maintenance 😀.

"I also don’t drink hardly ever, so this helps too."

Lots of her followers rushed to praise her, with one person writing, "This is so refreshing. I’m the same height and a couple of kgs heavier and gradually moving closer to my goal which is similar to your weight.

"What I like especially about this post is that finally someone is NOT selling something or pretending to be an expert. I get so fed up of seeing transformations followed immediately by a weight loss program or video 🙄".
