Have you ever witnessed a conversation so awkward it made your toes curl inside your socks? Well, times that by about a million and you’ll have some idea of the horribly awkward interaction that took place between Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips and Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson.
Prior to heading into the villa this year, Shaughna made a brief appearance on the last series of Celebs Go Dating.
The straight talker appeared at a mixer, where she was approached by human golden retriever Sam, who quite frankly, made a total arse of himself.
As she leaned against the bar, standing with another single female, Sam approached and introduced himself by pretending to be a presenter, live on air. Genius. What girl wouldn’t be impressed by that?

He then proceeded to turn every shade of red known to man as he awkwardly stumbled through the conversation, asking Shaughna what she does for a living.
When she revealed she was a fire safety officer, Sam quipped, “We all need safety, no one needs a fire. Unless, it’s a good fire.”
The Love Island star pressed him for what he meant by the latter comment, but Sam didn’t know.
In a bid to save the sinking ship he clasped his hands together, leaned in and said, "Can I just say, you both smell amazing.”
Much to everyone’s relief, Sam then walked off – but it’s safe to say he had his very own “I carried a watermelon” moment…

Luckily Shauhgna seems to be having more luck in the villa, she and hunky scaffolder, Callum Jones have been paired up since the show started and seem to have settled in together so well, they’ve started bickering like an old married couple AND she even accidentally dropped the ‘L’ word in a conversation with Sophie a couple of days ago. Happy times.
Although with Casa Amor looming ominously on the horizon, their relationship will certainly be put to the test as a bevy of male and female bombshells will soon descend to no doubt rustle a few feathers.
