She took a swipe at her ex, Jamie Redknapp, last week – revealing how his decision to re-marry and start a family so soon after the breakdown of their 19-year marriage had a lasting impact on their two sons, Charley, 18, and Beau, 13.

Opening up for the first time about Jamie’s “surprise” October wedding to Frida Andersson, 38 – who gave birth to their now 10-month-old son Raphael a month later – Louise, 47, said, “I've felt this as a mum and, to say this in the most sort of respectful way, my boys’ lives changed dramatically and then it changed again when obviously Jamie got married and had a family.”

Explaining her reasons for not jumping straight back onto the dating scene following their 2017 divorce, the former Eternal star continued, “Their life changed and I felt like I needed to be their one staple. That’s just something I think a lot of mums would feel.”

And insiders tell Closer how Louise’s thinly-veiled dig at the former footballer, 49, has reignited tension between the exes.

The source says, “Jamie wasn’t happy with Louise’s comments and felt like she was taking it as an opportunity to directly lash out and hurt them. And it was done in a very public way which makes it seem more of an explosive comment.

“Louise insisted she was just speaking honestly about how his choices have impacted the boys and while she understands Jamie might feel targeted, she insisted it is understandable that any child would feel that way when a parent moves on with a new partner.”

During her interview, Louise also confirmed Closer’s recent report that her sons have urged her to start dating again amid reports she’s ready to move on with a new partner.

“I’m not averse to dating or meeting somebody,” she added.

“My boys will be absolutely fine if I’m dating or if I’m going out with anyone, they will be my biggest supporters as long as I’m happy. Like they’re like, ‘Yeah, Mum, you should.’”

And pals say she’s looking forward to enjoying the “honeymoon” stage with a new partner.

The source adds, “Louise is living her best life and is enjoying the freedom now her boys are that bit older. She’s excited to fall in love again and enjoy new life experiences with a partner by her side and is confident it will happen when the time is right.”
