Lisa Riley says it will take years for her to adjust mentally to the change of her appearance following her weight loss and operations to remove excess skin.
The Emmerdale actress, 40, has been flooded with compliments from fans since shedding an impressive 11 stone but says she still has a way to go before her changed body feels normal.
“The psychology side of things I’m still dealing with and I think I will be for years to come,” she told Now.
“But I’ve got my next operation (to remove loose skin) in a couple of weeks and by my 41st birthday in July I want to be the full finished package. All my scars, scar tissue, the wounds - gone.”
Lisa says she was told she might find her sudden change in looks after her skin removal strange and admits it’s played with her emotions.
She said: “It’s nuts, I cannot get my head around it. I knew it would be emotional, and you are warned about that, but the change is enormous. I can’t get over the flattery about who the whole nation has got behind me on this journey.”
Lisa has changed her approach to food and no longer eats things that are bad for her, and she insists she will not allow herself to put the weight back on.
When asked if she’ll gain the pounds again, she said: “Not at all, I don’t understand how I can! When people say, ‘Oh, I’m putting a picture of me obese on the fridge’, I say, ‘Don’t have the crap in the fridge in the first place!’
“It’s dead easy, if it’s not there you can’t consume it.”
