Kim’s spot on the coveted magazine cover has prompted criticism, with many claiming that the reality star is not deserved of a place on the front of the fashion bible.

Lily, on the other hand, disagrees, and thinks that Vogue’s risk has paid off.

‘I think that all industries that can be taken advantage of by the internet now, there is no time for irony, it is like 'what the f**k is going to sell?' That is it,’ she said, speaking at the Vogue Festival in London.

‘I bet you it is the biggest selling cover they have had in five years,’ she added.

At the same event, designer Jasper Conran disagreed with Lily and said that he was unsure what statement Anna Wintour was trying to make featuring Kim and her fiancé Kanye West on the front of the magazine.

‘I wondered what the message was that Anna Wintour was giving out with that cover,’ he said.

‘I didn’t like that photograph but that is besides the point. What is the message you are giving to your readers putting Kim Kardashian on the cover? What does she represent?’

‘What are you suggesting because I can’t quite understand,’ he added.

When Lily was asked who should feature on the front of the next issue, she cheekily pointed a thumb at herself.
