In a tweet late on Friday night, the 28-year-old said: ‘If you’ve found that special someone, don’t EVER let them go no matter what!! Nothing in this world is more important.’
He also posted a picture of himself in his recording studio, followed by the words: ‘My hideaway- pouring my heart into this track!!’

Friends of the former couple have revealed that they have both taken the break-up badly, telling a UK newspaper: ‘Lewis and Nicole feel very sad about splitting, as it’s not what either of them wanted. They both thought that each other was ‘the one’, but sadly it’s their hectic schedules keeping them apart.’
They added: ‘Nicole’s heartbroken, but she’s keeping herself busy with her X Factor duties. Lewis is focusing on work too, and has his F1 commitments to concentrate on, but when he has down-time, all he can think about is Nicole. He’s the kind of guy who is not embarrassed to wear his heart on his sleeve.’
The Formula One driver split with Nicole this month due to hectic work schedules, with him based in Switzerland and her in the UK.
The pair had been together for five-years after meeting at the MTV Awards in 2007. They split in January 2010 but were soon back together four months later.
Lewis had recently hinted at a possible proposal to the X Factor judge, saying: ‘We’ve been together for five years, which is quite a milestone. But hopefully in the near future’.
