Crowds turned out to pay their respects to TOWIE's Nanny Pat at her funeral yesterday but there was one notable absence, Lauren Goodger. Lauren had known Pat since she was 15 years old but revealed she didn’t attend the funeral as she didn’t want to cause tension.

Instead, Lauren sent a touching floral tribute. Speaking to the Sun, Lauren explained: “I'm in a very awkward situation. I would [go to the funeral] out of respect, because I've known her since I was 15 and for me, personally, it would be nice. I'd want to be there.

“But at the same time if I did go it would be [said] 'I'm going to see Mark [Wright]' or something. I don't think I could.”

Lauren dated Mark for over ten years but the pair split in 2012. Although the pair are now both in happy relationships, Mark is engaged to Michelle Keegan and Lauren is dating Jake McLean, Lauren feared people would get the wrong idea.

“That's the reason why, but that's not my fault,” Lauren added. “I think if [people] didn't drag me into whatever they did, things might be different.”

Lauren, 29, paid tribute to Nanny Pat, real name Patricia Brooker, on Twitter, writing: “Thinking of you all and sending love on this hard day love Lauren Goodger”.

Nanny Pat appeared in all 16 series of the ITVBE show, which started in 2010.
