Lauren Goodger could apparently be taken to court after it was revealed she had 'stolen' and 'photoshopped' a selfie from American model Carmen Ortega, apparently altering it to look more like herself.

The TOWIE star posted the snap to her Instagram under the caption 'nightmare wife' but, after several people pointed out how similar it was to Carmen's image, soon deleted the image.

Fans also noticed that not only had Lauren posted up a lightened picture, but that the waist in Lauren’s picture had been widened compared to Carmen’s original snap.

Speaking to The Sun, Carmen revealed she plans to take things to court if Lauren does not publicly apologise.

Carmen said: "We’ve never even met and now this could end up in court.

"I am speaking with my attorney. I have already offered her the chance to publicly apologise, but she won’t."

The model explained that it was "absolutely not OK" for anyone to steal or alter picture of a body that she has worked hard for to further her career.

Lauren has yet to publicly address the scandal, but posted the following message onto Twitter:

It read: "As soon as you put a picture out there online you loose control of the image. I have this with images all over the internet and people use them for malicious posting. [sic]

"Personally I would never do that, the only time I ever use images that are not mine is for inspiration or motivation. [sic]"
