Lauren Goodger’s “controlling” boyfriend has sparked concern amongst her friends.
The Only Way Is Essex star and her jailbird man have a rather unconventional relationship as they’ve never been on a date together.
Hair salon owner Lauren struck up a friendship with Joey Morrison after he spoke to her on the phone from HMP Standford Hill where he has been since 2009 for possession of a firearm, kidnap and blackmail.
Lauren has visited Joey in prison and their bond has grown stronger but her pals fear things may not be as she hopes when he is released in 21 months.
The star and her friends were asked about the romance for Channel 5 show In Therapy.
Lauren’s friend Jodie Wheeler said: “He’s very controlling, he wants her to do things she wouldn’t do for somebody else. But she likes that. He’s a bad boy and he gives off this bad boy image - he’s a good looking boy and he’s in prison.”
Another of Lauren’s friends, Lisa Sourou, added: “I was shocked to be honest with you, I said to her, ‘What are you doing Lauren? You’re crazy.’”
However, while Lauren admits even she knows her relationship is unusual, she thinks it makes it interesting.
She said: “This is the weirdest relationship ever but it’s exciting and I think that’s what I like. It is different and he’s my type and everything.”
An unconvinced Jodie added: “She’s got a lot to give and the only date she’s going on is twice a week to visit a prison that’s two hours away.”
