The singer, who is about to release her new album Art Pop, was being interviewed for a US radio show when she was asked about her rivalry with Madonna.

She said: “I think she’s more aggravated that I’m not upset that she doesn’t like me. ‘Cause I don’t care that she doesn’t like me… No, I don’t care… It’s such nonsense. “

Speaking about comparisons between herself and Madonna, Lady Gaga, 27, said: “It’s silly… There’s always this pissing match: ‘She’s taking her torch, is she the new her is she going to outlast her or not?’

But Lady Gaga insisted she’s not after Madonna’s Queen of Pop title.

“There’s this thing with some people that I’m a threat to the throne. I don’t want your f**king throne. I actually don’t want a throne at all, because I don’t view myself as a Queen, I view myself as one of my fans.”

Madonna covered Gaga’s track Born This Way on her MDMA tour last year, the track that music-experts insisted sounded just like Madonna’s own song Express Yourself.

When asked about Madonna’s performance in a recent interview, Gaga said: “I have to be really honest, I was completely kind of floored that Madonna was singing my song on her stage!

“I mean, she’s Madonna. I looked up to her for a long time. I’m not quite sure what her intention was. All that mattered to me was Madonna Ciccone was singing my song on her stage.”

And, to make it clear she didn’t see it as a compliment, Gaga added: “As a punk rocker from New York, I’ve basically been hoping that I would become so good that one day I would p*** off Madonna!”
