The 28-year-old recently admitted that much of her award-winning latest album was recorded when she was 'high not drunk'.

And the Pokerface singer has now admitted that the drug 'helped her through' the debilitating hip injury she suffered last year.

Gaga was wheelchair bound after suffering a hip injury last February, brought on by vigorous performances during her Born This Way world tour.

‘I was just numbing, numbing, numbing myself then sleeping it off, then getting on stage, killing it in pain, then getting off and smoking, smoking, smoking, not knowing what pain was,’ she has revealed.

And the Born This Way star admits she found it hard to give the drug up.

‘F**k, if I know what hurts the most, you know? I would break the habit and it would sneak back in and I would break it and sneak back in.’

But the injury is not the only thing the songstress believes brought the drug use on.

During her rise to fame she admits finding it hard to be taken seriously.

‘Yeah, it’s trauma,’ she believes.

‘I went through terrible experiences early in my career climbing through swine and swine of men in the music industry – just trying to get somebody to listen to my music and take me seriously as a songwriter instead of trying to get me to b*** them’.
