Kym Marsh has opened up about the importance of attending your smear test after revealing that she had a cancer scare.
Addressing the issue on Morning Live, which she co-presents with Gethin Jones, Kym told viewers, "I am someone who has had pre-cancerous cells – I’ve had them removed and, touch-wood, I’m fine.
"But imagine if I hadn’t gone to that smear test at that time?"

Kym explained that, during the pandemic, one in three women have failed to attend their smear test.
A smear test, or Pap smear, is a quick screening procedure that tests for the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells in the cervix. Women are first asked to have a cervical screening just before their 25th birthday, and then again every three to five years after that.
Stressing the importance of going to your smear test, the former Hear'Say singer said, "It’s so important we don’t let our general health slip right now. If you find a lump, or something’s not right, you need to go to the doctor.
"There are people working. You should definitely be making your smear appointments, too. We all know how important it is to have smear tests as women."
The 44 year old then added that, though the NHS is under strain from the coronavirus, other health problems should still be checked.
"We’ve got to be aware," she said.

Recently, Kym opened up about having keyhole surgery on a hernia that put her out of work for a week weeks.
Speaking to OK! Magazine about the operation, she said that it was "nerve-racking" being under general anaesthetic.
"It’s a relief to have it done and I’m hoping it won’t be long before I’m training again, as I’ve really missed it," she said.
