That was crazy, right? You’d think it’d be to stop people from using certain words. But she did (When it came to clothing and entertainment).
Now Kendall and Kylie Jenner are trying to copyright their actual names.
Which could be a problem for Kylie Minogue and, you know, the thousands of other people around the world who share a name with the privileged teens.
According to TMZ, which claims to have seen the documents filed by Kendall, 19, and 17-year-old Kylie, the youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister wants both her first name alone and her full name protected by copyright.
Supermodel Kendall simply wants ‘Kendall Jenner’ protected for use on clothing, accessories and beauty products.
Kim’s little sisters also requested trademarks for ‘Kendall and Kylie’ and ‘Kendall & Kylie’.
So basically, don’t call your future children Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kylie, Kendall and Kylie or Kendall & Kylie or you could face a lawsuit.
You probably won’t, we don’t think even the Kardashian-Jenner’s have the power to stop you from naming your child what you like.
But TMZ claimed that, should their requests be granted, you won’t be able to use the names for “entertainment in the nature of providing information by means of global computer network in the fields of entertainment, fashion and pop culture; entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a celebrity, actress or model.”
Phew! To sum up: as long as you’re not planning on becoming a reality TV star/model/singer/actress/fashion designer/general celebrity, with their names then you’ll be fine.
