She’s one of the most famous billionaires on the planet and she’s madly in love with one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, but Kylie Jenner’s romance is causing ripples amongst the Kardashian clan. While the 27-year-old makeup mogul’s relationship with Wonka star Timothée Chalamet, 29, seems to be going from strength to strength, momager Kris Jenner is said to be fearful that her daughter might leap into marriage, without an iron-clad prenup.
An insider says, ‘Kylie has her heart set on marrying Timothée, she adores him and anyone can see how happy they are together. Kris is all for it, she thinks he’s great, but there’s one huge stipulation. She feels she needs to protect her daughter’s bank account. Timothée is obviously very rich by most people’s standards, but his net worth is a fraction of hers, and Kris is very clear that they need an iron-clad prenup.
‘The only problem is that Kylie can be quite impulsive. She’s by far the most generous out of all the girls, so of course Kris worries she might do something crazy and run off and marry him before they can get an agreement signed. That’s why there’s a big rush to get it drawn up. He hasn’t proposed but it's being worked on by lawyers, so that it will be ready the moment he does. In the meantime, she’s reminding Kylie almost daily not to do anything rash.’
The Hollywood romance looks set to be a happy ever after for reality star Kylie, who previously dated rapper Travis Scott for five years. She and Travis were first linked at Coachella in April 2017 and became parents to daughter Stormi in February 2018, then son Aire in February 2022. However, they had their ups and downs over the years and it finally emerged that they’d split for good in early 2023.
Rumours that Kylie and Oscar nominee Timothée were having a somewhat unexpected relationship first began to swirl a little later that year. However, it wasn’t until September 2023 that the couple made their first public appearance together at a star-studded Beyoncé concert in Inglewood, California. Photos later published from the event showed the loved-up pair getting cosy, and reportedly even making out during the show.
Despite remaining tight lipped about their relationship, the duo have seen been seen out together on numerous occasions since, and are often spotted holding hands or stealing a kiss. In August last year they were even snapped emerging from a private jet, after a family holiday in the Bahamas to celebrate Kylie’s 27th birthday, and earlier this year the multi-millionaire supported her beau at the 82nd Golden Globes. Although she didn’t walk the carpet with Timothée, who was nominated for his role in A Complete Unknown, the pair were later pictured looking happy and loved up while sitting at his table. A few weeks later she once again skipped the red carpet at the Oscars, but was later seen kissing Timothée at the awards do, and posing for selfies with the star.
“Kylie has been spoiling Timothée rotten,’ says a source. ‘She’s known for her generosity and has even flown him on her private jet, so he doesn’t have to use a commercial airline. She loves being able to take care of him and truth be told, if he were to propose something crazy like running off to Las Vegas, it’s hard to imagine her wanting to wait for a prenup to be signed. The danger of that of course is that it would leave her entire fortune exposed.’
Reality star Kylie is said to be worth over $700million and owns a private jet, which reportedly has customised Hermès blankets on every seat. It’s said the plane, which she bought in 2020 and calls Kylie Air, cost her nearly $72.8 million. The multi-millionaire famously began her beauty empire in 2015, at the age of 19, when she used $250,000 of her modelling earnings to launch her own line of $29 lip kits. Five years later, she sold 51% of Kylie Cosmetics to beauty giant Coty for a whopping $600million.
However, ‘momager’ Kris Jenner is notoriously protective of her wealthy offspring, reportedly advocating prenups for daughters Kourtney and Kim in the past. And while Kylie and Timothée are said to be actively talking wedding and babies, a source says no formal plans will be made until they’ve figured out their finances.
However, if reports are to be believed, it won’t be long before wedding bells are in the air. Earlier this month it was reported that Timothée had spent an eye watering £300,000 on a lavish engagement ring, featuring 150 diamonds. According to The U.S. Sun, the sparkler was designed in Paris, as part of his plans to take their relationship to the next level.
‘Kylie and Timothée are so happy right now, but Kris naturally feels she needs to protect her in case things don’t work out,’ says a source. ‘The awkward part of all this is that Kylie can’t exactly broach this topic before Timothée pops the question, that’s the sort of thing that would really turn him off. She was ecstatic when it came out that he had been ring shopping, but he hasn’t actually said anything himself, so she has no choice but sit tight and wait. She’s worried that if she comes on too strong it will ruin everything, but Kris keeps mentioning it and has even threatened to bring it up in conversation herself. It’s mortifying for Kylie, but of course Kris is about protecting her fortune.'
