The 23 year-old actress - who is currently filming her new movie Camp X-Ray - has signed up to study English Literature at the University of California, in Los Angeles (UCLA) while carrying on with her film commitments.

A source told a UK newspaper: ‘Yes, Kristen’s a Tinseltown actress worth millions but she is already considering a life after film.’

The source explained that Kristen – who was filming Twilight when her classmates would have started studying for degrees – ‘never got to complete college and wants to get a proper education.’

The actress, who is said to be a keen reader, will study via a correspondence course which lets students take part without physically attending classes – so she can study in her own time alongside her acting career.

‘She is a voracious reader and cannot wait to get going on her correspondence course,’ said the source.

‘It won’t be easy and it will mean putting in some fairly strenuous hours. But once she’s graduated, Kristen will be able to do almost anything she wants, in or out of Hollywood.’

The news comes a month after her split from her on-off boyfriend of four years Robert Pattinson.

The Twilight co-stars avoided bumping into eachother at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards, where the final installment of the vampire romance won nearly every category it was nominated in.

Ironically, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - released when the now split couple were still together last November – picked up the award for best romance… but surprisingly neither Kristen or Robert were there to accept the gong.
