Kim Kardashian, like the majority of pregnant women who aren't Kate Middleton, gained weight while she was carrying baby North West. But, unlike the majority, the reality star found every single new bump, ounce and pound scrutinised by the media - and, according to her step-brother Brody Jenner, it was incredibly tough for her to deal with.
"A lot of very cruel things were written about her.'
"When you’re pregnant it should be a great stage in your life and you shouldn’t have to go to every newsstand and see pictures and headlines saying: 'Kim’s a whale.'"
"I know it upset her — it should have been one of the happiest times of her life and it wasn’t."
Well, quite.
The Hills star went on to explain that, "For a while, Kim was all bummed out with all the ridicule she was getting about her weight during her pregnancy … it was definitely getting to her. "
"I know it upset her — it should have been one of the happiest times of her life and it wasn’t."
Brody wisely added: "People gain weight when they’re pregnant and there’s nothing wrong with that. It upset me to read some things about her.”
But, thankfully, Bruce Jenner's son admitted that, now Kim has little North, she doesn't really have time to worry about what the media think. And his step-sister has risen above the barbed comments in a bid to focus on being a mother:
"She dealt with it and she’s a strong girl, she’s getting through it and everything’s good."
"She’s been focusing on... being a mom."
