She proudly watched her sister Kourtney tie the knot with Travis Barker in a lavish Italian wedding – and for once Kim Kardashian wasn’t the one taking centre stage. Kourtney wore a white mini-dress before slipping into a black wedding dress to get married in front of a shrine to the Virgin Mary before world-famous opera singer Andrea Bocelli performed for their first dance.
The wedding – held at the Italian beachside complex of Dolce & Gabbana, with a reception at the medieval Castello Brown fortress – boasted an A-list guest list, including 43-year-old Kourtney’s four sisters, actress Megan Fox and music stars Machine Gun Kelly and Beyoncé.
Travis’ children, Landon, 18, and Alabama, 16, and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 23 – who he shares with ex-wife Shanna Moakler – and Kourtney’s kids with former partner Scott Disick, Mason, 12, Penelope, nine, and seven-year-old Reign, also watched the romantic ceremony. It was technically their third wedding as they’d already had ceremonies in Las Vegas and California in recent weeks.
While the Kardashians – including “momager” Kris, Kim, 41, Khloé, 37, Kendall, 26, and Kylie, 24 – were thrilled for Kourtney, insiders say that the lavish celebrations have pushed Kim – who’s been married three times previously – into hurrying along plans to wed boyfriend Pete Davidson.
An insider tells Closer, “Kim’s so happy for Kourtney and really enjoyed her wedding, but the whole thing made her a little jealous, she really wants her fairy-tale too. She genuinely feels the happiest she’s ever felt with Pete so she’s hoping he pops the question very soon so they can have their own show-stopping wedding.”
It wouldn’t be the first proposal for Pete, 28, who was previously engaged to singer Ariana Grande in 2018, before the pair called it off four months later. He’s also had relationships with Margaret Qualley, Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber and, most recently, Phoebe Dynevor.
Kim’s first marriage to music producer Damon Thomas lasted from 2000 until 2004, and she was famously married to NFL player Kris Humphries for just 72 days in 2011. She wed Kanye West – with whom she shares children North, eight, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and three-year-old Psalm – in 2013, but the couple split last year, with Kanye hitting out at Kim and her new boyfriend Pete on social media.
Despite that, Kim hasn’t given up on marriage and seeing her big sister get hitched again has confirmed her desire to head down the aisle.
The insider says, “Kim’s a hopeless romantic. She and Pete have already talked about a big Hollywood A-List wedding, but they’re also thinking of eloping then having a spectacular party later.
“Kourtney has now set the bar for having multiple weddings and Kim is going to follow suit. She’s suggested they have their first wedding on the old Staten Island Ferry that Pete bought with his Saturday Night Live co-star Colin Jost, and do something no-frills with his favourite Italian restaurant serving pizza and pasta to just a small group of pals on board.
“Then, of course, Kim’s planning something much more grand as the main event. Pete is so in love with Kim and completely under her spell – her family feels as though he’ll do pretty much anything she says.”
After reportedly beginning their romance when they met on SNL in October last year, Kim and Pete – who confirmed his departure from the US comedy sketch show last week – began dating the following month.
Insiders previously told Closer that the couple had discussed marriage, and the source says that while Kim wants to plough ahead, concerned pals are telling her to slow down.
The source says, “Kim’s hoping to fast-track the whole process, but her friends worry she’s rushing it. Pete has so much going on in his career right now and he’s also struggled with some mental health issues.
“Kim’s pals are begging her to slow down and not rush it just to compete with Kourtney. They get that Kim wants to find true love again, but Kanye was such a huge part of her life, and they have four beautiful children together, so they don’t understand why she wants to move so fast.
“Kourtney’s a year older than Kim so they feel she has time. Everyone has been raving over Kourtney and Travis, how spontaneous they are and how it’s obvious they’re so in love with one another – and Kim wants the same conversations about her and Pete.”
