US newspaper the New York Post, obviously not wanting to be the only publication in the world not to mention the celebrity wedding of the year, gave it their own kind of write up.
The headline read: “ALERT (Yawn): Kimye weds”. And the rest of the small piece followed the same tone.
“Two jackasses got married in Italy Saturday. Sex-tape star Kim Kardashian, 33, wed egotist Kanye West, 36, in a wedding opulent enough for Florence’s Medici dynasty and tacky enough for reality TV.
“They were betrothed at Florence’s 16th century Forte di Belvedere castle. Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner walked Kim down the aisle. The republic still stands.”
The over-the-top wedding featured a performance from John Legend, a wedding speech full of Kanye-isms, and giant walls of white flowers. Altogether the whole day allegedly cost the couple £4million.
Kim and Kanye have reportedly stuck to Europe for the honeymoon and are said to be staying in a 17th century manor house in Ireland, costing them $70,000.
