He used to be known for his bad boy behaviour on screen in Hollyoaks, but in real life, loved-up Kieron Richardson has announced he is starting a family with hubby Carl Hyland.
The couple announced their happy news on Instagram in an adorable video of their Christmas tree, panning down to them opening a present, which read: “TWINS COMING 2017.”
The actor captioned the post with a sweet thank you to those who are making their dream of having children come true, writing: “Merry christmas to us thanks to the British surrogacy centre.”
Fans were quick to congratulate the fathers-to-be, with sweet messages on Kieron’s Instagram post.
“This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!” one wrote, while another posted: “I am smiling so much I’m so happy for you @mrkieronrichardson.”
One follower commented: “Best thing in the world being a parent, enjoy!”
Kieron and Carl walked down the aisle 18 months ago in a star-studded Peak District ceremony, which included Hollyoaks stars Stephanie Davis, Jennifer Metcalfe, and Gemma Merna, as bridesmaids.
The pair had been together for seven years before getting wed, and have had their sights set on starting a family ever since.
The couple previously faced heartbreak after four failed attempts to get the ball rolling using IVF and a surrogate over the past 14 months.
Kieron, 30, who plays Ste Hay on the Channel 4 soap, previously admitted that he and Carl originally wanted to start their family in 2016, but sadly the odds were against them.
“We were hoping to have a baby this year,” he told The Mirror.
“Unfortunately, like anyone who is trying for a baby through IVF – whether they are gay couples or not – it is a lottery.
“The statistics when we first started it were a 70% success rate.
“We have tried it four times, with the same surrogate mum, and we have fallen into that 30% bracket of it not working.”
Kieron had also opened up about the couple’s struggle on the This Morning sofa.
"We really want kids,” he admitted. "We haven't got a number of children we want in mind. One would be amazing but I know that it's not always possible so we are hoping for one and fingers crossed.
"To be honest one is enough. And if that fails then we will definitely do adoption."
Well, now you’re going to be blessed with two babies, Kieron!
