Kerry Katona, 34, has been snapped out and about without her wedding ring, leading many to speculate that she and George Kay were suffering marriage difficulties.
But, as it turns out, the reason behind her bare finger is a very different one.
Speaking with OK! magazine, Kerry revealed that she woke up in the middle of the night in terrible pain.
Her finger had swollen up around her wedding ring, causing her agonising pain - and, after being rushed to hospital, doctors told the Atomic Kitten star that she could lose her finger if she did not have the ring removed.
Kerry explained: "It was agony. They gave me gas and air when I got to the hospital.
"They told me if they didn't get the ring off I was going to lose my finger as there was no circulation in it.
"I was heartbroken. George was holding me. I was crying so much and I had snot coming out of my nose."
She added emotionally: "I was in so much pain I just told them to cut the ring off. I couldn't feel my hand. But I had no choice."
However Kerry - who tied the knot with George Kay in September last year - has said that fate may have had a hand to play when it came to her wedding ring.
The mum-of-five said: "Perhaps it's a sign of all the s**t that has happened in the past 12 months – my nan passing away, DJ being ill, me being ill – is all over and we can start afresh."
We love how she's found the silver lining and given things a positive spin - fingers crossed that she and George are able to get her ring repaired as soon as her swelling goes down.
