They’ve managed to pack more drama – including a temporary split – into their first year of marriage than most people would in a lifetime. But insiders say Kerry Katona is determined to have a fresh start with husband George Kay, and now plans to renew their vows.

The decision comes after a roller-coaster few months for the couple. In July, Kerry, 35, kicked George out of their family home after he admitted turning to booze to cope when he was affected by Bell’s palsy – a condition which paralysed half of his face – saying: “I wasn’t a nice person to live with.”

Their problems then escalated when Kerry discovered George, 34, had been arrested in July on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery – the charges have since been dropped.

George begged Kerry to give him another chance and the pair got back together as Kerry didn’t want another failed relationship. Insiders say she loves him, and in a recent interview, she said: “I don’t think I’ll ever be without George,” and the pair are now more loved up than ever.

A source reveals: “Kerry feels she and George need a new start and suggested renewing their vows – she believes it will fix their marriage. Her pal Katie Price did it with her husband Kieran after he cheated on her, and Kerry thinks it will show all their doubters that they’re strong and happy.

“They’ve been discussing doing it in Cape Verde around Christmas at a friend’s hotel. She’d love Katie to be her bridesmaid again, as she was meant to be for her wedding last year, but dropped out last minute.”
